Dualit Toasters

A vario version with three toast slots

The Dualit toaster is amongst the most iconic of toasters sold in the UK. The stainless steel casing, retro 1950's design, and simple controls make it stand out amongst the competition.

The standard Dualit toaster has little in the way of features, in fact, it usually only has three,

  1. A timing control
  2. A crumb tray
  3. A lever to lift bread in and out

What you pay for is the quality of the materials and the workmanship. Each Dualit toaster has been manufactured by hand and in the UK. This has resulted in Dualit winning countless awards for reliability and consumer satisfaction.

The side panel of any Dualit toaster remains the same, with the Dualit name clearly visible and seven slots to release heat from the inner mechanism. (Shown below)

To begin with Dualit only made toasters in stainless steel. For the majority of their fifty years in production, they have remained faithful to this simplicity. Only in the past decade have more colours become availability, such as,

  1. Polished
  2. Mint green
  3. Petal Pink
  4. White
  5. Red
  6. Utility Cream
  7. Glacier Blue
  8. Canary Yellow

Dualit are a British company, and are located at,

  • County Oak Way, Crawley, West Sussex, RH11 7ST

The original designer of the toaster was Max Gort-Barten, and it was designed in the 1950's. Recently Dualit have designed a new toaster, which is the first to totally reject Max Gort-Barten design. Pictured below, it's allowed Dualit to cram much more features into it than with their Gort-Barten toaster.
