Kenwood Toasters

Posted 2010

Kenwood are a mass producer of entry level to medium priced toasters. The below image perfectly displays the entry level Kenwood toaster.

Priced in the region of £15, it's about the cheapest toaster there is to buy, but, surprisingly, Kenwood have managed to fit a sizable amount of features into it.

A high lift facility variable timing control, illuminated buttons, a coolwall, two slots, stop function, crumb tray, defrost setting and some chrome levers and switches.

The below images from left to right, show how the range improves by price, £25-45. Additional features are added such as a roll & croissant warming rack, variable width slots and stainless steel finish.

The kMix, far right, is the premium priced Kenwood toaster at £45. It actually includes less features than the entry level toaster above, but the style, design, materials and workmanship in it's construction are of a higher standard.

The Company

The above manufacturer is Kenwood Limited, not to be confused with Kenwood Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer of electronics such as audio devices.

Kenwood Limited makes kitchen appliances and was founded in the UK. The man who founded the company was Kenneth Maynard Wood.

The year it was founded was nineteen thirty six. The product which proved the making of the company was the Kenwood Chef, a food mixer, launched in nineteen fifty.

The company continued to expand it's product range over the past fifty years. The company was floated on the London stock market in the early 1990's and was finally purchased by Delonghi in 2001.
