| Testers are not to be confused with grey imports, or, non-genuine stock. A good percentage of online fragrance retailers stock testers. They are sourced from large department stores and other indepedent cosmetic shops. Testers are bottles which remained unused, but their boxes were either opened or discarded. It's rare for online retailers to sell used testers. Of course, the testers were intended for use, but for whatever reason, were unused, and the entire liquid quantity is intact. A tester will often have a sticker with 'tester' printed on it. The bottle itself will have 'tester' sticker directly printed on it. It's quite likely the bottle will come without a cap, and rarely will they come in their original packaging. A standard tester will be sold in a plain box. Some retailers will supply a more colourful box. or gift wrapping, if the aftershave is intended as a present. However, it may look stingy and penny pinching to buy a 'tester' bottle as a gift for a loved one. The tester is ideal for someone who is intending to buy the item for personal use. The reason being, that the only difference between a 'tester' and an original perfume is the appearance. If you're paying 30-50% more for just a box and a cap, then you have to ask yourself why? It's worth remembering that a 'tester' is the genuine article, and should not be confused with a fake. Is it possible to buy 'testers' on the high street? I'd have to say no, only because I have not personally seen one. It may be possible if you kindly ask a sales assistant.
