Arcadia retail group consider investing in UK clothing factories

Posted - 16/03/11

Due to the rapid rise in clothing inflation - specifically located in the Far East - Philip Green, head honcho of the Arcadia retail group, is considering investing in UK clothing factories. This would herald a seismic change for the Arcadia retail group, who have long grown accustomed to importing clothing garments from China and other Far East countries.

The Arcadia Group is comprised of clothing chains; Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topman, Topshop and Wallis. Presently, Philip Green does not expect to move a sizable amount of production to the UK, but is looking for small scale investments in dormant UK facilities. The move would represent a sea change in UK garment production, which has been moving overseas for decades.
