I have exclusively used Amazon for all my gaming, dvd, books needs
online. Admittedly price engines like pricerunner may find other
retailers a few pennies cheaper they haven't the reliability.
I always order over the amount needed for free delivery, this was
£25, then it was £19 and on occasion it's been as slow
as £15. I think the free delivery service is called the 'super
saver' option and they promise to deliver within 4 days I think.
Usually it's been below this time, 2 days on average, of course
making sure the item is in stock within 24 hours.
They use royal mail for delivery, to begin with I had my reservations
about the reliability of this, but I must have made over 50-80 orders
with Amazon and never once I have had reason to complain. The items
have never gone missing in the post, been damaged (probably due
to their original and fabulous packaging) or come later than indicated
by email corespondents.
I believe I am correct in assuming Amazon were the first of the
solely online discount retailers for books, dvds, cds and computer
games. The original is usually always the best, I've tried the likes
of Play.com and Loaded 24/7 because they have worked out cheaper.
But the service just didn't seem as professional, the packaging
wasn't as good, delivery slower and order confirmation and delivery
emails not as reliable.
I'd have to find an item considerably cheaper than Amazon to make
me order it elsewhere. I think this speaks volumes.
