What do I like about them? the free catalogue has to be top of
the list. What's not to like? the price, because the catalogue only
comes out a few times a year the product range can become dated
(especially electrical) and therefore expensive because the price
doesn't change (come down) for sometimes 4-6 months.
They have improved the stocked items over the years, I remember
10-15 years ago you would have a task finding an item that wasn't
out of stock. The stores are located in prime locations, now much
larger than before and this must help with the stock levels. The
argos in my local town was becoming quite tatty and old, luckily
for us a new shopping street was built in the town centre and argos
moved into a much larger and fancy residence.
The item I used to buy was a box of 'commando' golf balls, they
were priced nicely and always in-stock because of the size of the
item and probably lack of interest in the item. Luckily for my bank
balance my golf swing has improved, and I am not required to visit
argos every two weeks for another box of balls.
I've only visited the website a few times, usually around Christmas
and that also seems to suffer from the dreaded 'out of stock' message
for ALOT of items. But they do have new services, like their ringing
and reserving. This may help avoid the problem from irl stores.
I maybe odd, but for some reason I find the filling out codes in
the piece of paper, checking on stock level quite exciting. Certainly
a unique shopping experience.
I would like to rant about argos but I don't have it in me. Something
deep down quite likes them.
