You will probably hear and read many complaints about this retailer,
but there always is for big successful firms. Do not believe a word
of it, no other toy shop has the selection variety and amount of
prime locations in the UK. Before Toys R Us came across the Atlantic
to the UK there wasn't any toy shops of this size except Hamleys
in London. I guess Hamleys really dropped the ball with that one,
they should and could have developed their own chain of warehouse
stores on the industrial estates of all large cities and towns in
Britain.
Your only problem will dragging your kids out kicking and screaming
when you leave. If you have a three year boy he will never want
to leave, he will beg to live there, probably where a display tent
has been erected.
The prices are ok, but rarely are they bargain basement. Items
like video consoles and games are well overpriced, I would only
shop for board shops and regular toys, not the video/computer variety.
Go to your specialist like Game.net for that.
The staff are professional but they will not bust a gut for you.
What can you expect for their wages?
Overall a pleasant and sometimes fun shopping experience, except
during the Christmas rush.

Inadequate
staff, staff that are there have no customer service skills, no
semblance of order for toys (nobody knows where anything is), managers
lackasadaisical.
Just been to our local store in Portsmouth - what a nightmare -
totally agree with the posting from John. Can only add (re the Portsmouth
store), that if the rumours are true and TRU have lost half of their
building, I can't say I am surprised. It is a shabby set up.
Look forward to Argos going in.
