I do not use my credit card much, in fact I only own it to pay
for the occasional online purchase. I use switch/maestro irl but
it's not supported by the majority of online merchants. I'd been
with Virgin.net for 14 months without any problems, then out of
the blue a debt collector arrived on my door and informed me Virgin.net
were taking me to court. The problem? I hadn't paid my last two
monthly installments. I phoned Virgin.net and they told me they
had sent numerous emails to my account, the problem is I had never
used my email account supplied by Virgin. I had forgot to update
my credit card details. Therefore I accepted it's my fault and straight
away updated my details. But I find it a shoddy way to contact a
customer, by email!, surely they could have phoned me up once before
releasing a debt collector on my arse. After paying my debt I moved
back to BT.

The actual Internet service is good, the price is right, it's pretty
damn reliable and the speed isn't half bad. But they have obviously
cut back costs in the customer services department. In this respect
they do not live up the quality of service Richard Branson originally
built up with the Virgin brand. I've heard similar tales about Virgin's
ISP and mobile service.
