One complaint from ladies with larger curves, is the lack of lingerie which caters for their needs. It's a sad fact that alot of lingerie brands only provide skimpy sizes.

So what exactly constitutes a plus size?,

Well, lets begin by providing a simple sizing chart for dress style lingerie (Negligees etc). The 'bust', 'waist' and 'hip' columns are in inches. The 'size' column is a standard incrementation for the lingerie industry.

If you wishing to measure yourself at home, then you will need a measuring tape. Obviously measuring your waist and hips is pretty simple. But measuring your bust may be more tasking. Below is a simple procedure for measuring your bust.

Measuring your bust, for a bra or lingerie item

To begin with it's worth noting that a bra should be measured for under-bust and cup size.

So with a measuring a tape, first measure underneath your breasts for the band size, and then around the largest part of the breast for the bust size.

Typical you find the cup size by subtracting the band size from the bust size,

Bust size - Band size = 0 inches = A cup

Bust size - Band size = 1 inches = B cup

Bust size - Band size = 2 inches = C cup

Bust size - Band size = 3 inches = D cup

A bra which is a size '34B'. The '34' is the band size, the 'B' is the cup size.

What signifies a plus size?

From size 18 onwards is considered a plus size. This is a size 18 for dress items such as a corset or negligee. Therefore a size 18 will signify a size 40 inch bust, 32 inch waist and 43 inch hip. The largest plus sizes go up to is usually around size 36.
