Width and dimension of washing machines

When considering the purchase of a new washing machine, the dimensions and width of the machine will probably be a key determining factor in the acquisition.

It's therefore good to know that manufacturers tend to stick to a set range of dimensions, which are adhered to by most makers of kitchen cabinets.

Unlike with dishwashers, which tend to stick to three main form factors, washing machines are more extensive with there dimensions. There is pretty much a washing machine to fit the dimension of any kitchen.

The dimension categories are therefore as follows,

• 40cm - 45cm
  
• 45cm - 50cm
  
• 50cm - 55cm
  
• 55cm - 60cm
  
• 60cm - 65cm
  
• 65cm or more

While there are machines in all the above categories, the spread of machines in each category is far from even. Nearly 95% of all machines fall within two width settings,

• 55cm - 60cm - 45% of all machines
• 60cm - 65cm - 50% of all machines
