Belt Drive Turntables

A belt drive turntable made by Denon, include a usb port which can record vinyl records into mp3 files, for transfer onto a pc

The belt drive turntable, as the name would suggest, employs a rubber belt in the mechanism of the turntable. The belt is placed between the platter (what the record is place upon) and the motor (placed off center, unlike with a direct drive turntable) to help create grip to spin the turntable. The belt drive turntable is widely manufactured (more so than the direct drive turntable), due to a number of reason, it's relatively cheap to manufacture, and helps to soak up motor vibrations, which results in a smoother less distorted sound. The drawback to a belt drive turntable is a lack of torque, wear and tear on the belt, and the fact is cant be used for spinning/scratching (DJs) due to the belt slipping off the platter or motor.
