EON

EON stands for Enhanced Other Networks, and, as the name suggests, provides some enhanced features for the RDS protocol. RDS is a protocol that enables small amounts of digital data to be embedded in FM radio broadcasts. RDS is limited to providing basic data, such as the time, current radio station name, and current radio station programming. EON builds upon this functionality, providing data about other stations and networks, specifically for traffic programmes, and gives additional output data about a station, such as it's primary broadcast genre, sports, music, drama, news etc.
