Eco Friendly Tuners

It may come as a surprise that tuners can be labeled eco-friendly, as it's more commonly the preserve of 'always on' appliances, such as fridges, to be labeled as such. That said, a number of tuners are now eco-friendly, such as Cambridge Audio's AZUR 650T. There are three main energy efficient labels to look out for,

  1. A logo which states a tuner is energy efficient to American standards The American Energy Star certification.
  2. A European logo which states that a tuner or radio saves electricity compared to an average tuner. The European EcoLabel certification.
  3. A trust setup in the UK to judge which appliances, or electrical devices, like tuners, can be classed as being efficient in their use of energy The UK Energy Saving Trust certification.

To qualify for any of the above certifications, the energy efficency will vary from year to year and between the three certifications.
