| One of the simple visual embellishments for jeans is pocket embroidery. It is rare to find embroidery placed outside of the rear pockets. But, it is not unknown for embroidery to placed on the calf and lower leg segments of jeans. However, this is usually to be found on women's jeans. Men's jeans, on the other hand, usually restrict themselves to rear pocket embroidered patterns. The embroidered pocket patterns are usually trademarked. With the embroidery identifying a pair of jeans which are either: CK, Diesel, Levi, or Wrangler. For the fashion or brand conscious, the correct embroidery can be viewed as a status symbol. Embroidery can therefore signify if the jeans are expensive, but by itself, embroidery is a simple pattern attached to jeans, whether cheap or designer. Some fashion commentators mention that the amount of stitching - it's size or complication - may indicate the quality of the jeans. One way that independent jeans manufacturers have begun to compete with the big manufactuers is in the production of unique, intricate, and complex embroidery. The floral designs produced by Nine Plus are noted for their beauty. The major manufacturer's are restricted in their embroidery. Mass production means that they have to stick with a selection of patterns. Time is money, and the cost of producing large, unique, and time consuming patterns is rarely an option.
