Espresso Machine

An Espresso machine works by pressuring water through coffee beans to extract enough concentration to make a drink. Out of all the various brewing techniques, Espresso machines tend to make the most thickly concentrated, strong and deep coloured type of coffee. The base coffee drink an Espresso machine makes, is, of course an Espresso. But by combining crema or milk or both , it goes on to make other drinks of coffee such as latte, macchiato and mocha. However, not all Espresso machines can produce hot frothy milk.

The two main varieties of Espresso machine are manual and automatic.

Manual Espresso machines work with the aid of a spring piston or directly through the lever. Manual machines are not as simple to operate at they first appear. You will need to calculate the amount of water to pressure through the coffee granules and how hard and how long to time the pull of the lever when you ready to pour the drink. Therefore, a casual user may become frustrated by the effort and know how of the idiocentric nature of their machine for the perfect cup of coffee.

Automatic Espresso machines are usually classified as using a pump. While there are automatic machines which claim to produce Espresso using a steam technique. Many coffee experts would state that they actually produce a coffee which is more akin to that produced by a percolator, which is infact not an Espresso.

Therefore, automatic pump machines can be classified into three section, semiautomatic, automatic and fully automatic. Semiautomatic machines allow the user to stop and start the pump at their discretion. An automatic maker has presets which are processed at the press of a button. Fully automatic makers do everything, they will grind and prepare the coffee beans and produce the drink from one press of a button.

A pump machine will contain one or two boilers to heat the water to the desired temperature. Once this is achieved the pump will force the water through the coffee granules. When it comes to bar pressure, the ideal number of bars for producing ideal Espresso is thought to be nine bars.
