| The Irish coffee is a mix of espresso, sugar and Irish Whiskey such as Jameson's. The coffee is then topped off with cream or whipped cream. Credit for the Irish coffee has been given to Joseph Sheridan. The date of the coffee's invention, is believed to have been sometime in the nineteen forties. Mr Sheridan was currently working close to an Irish international airport, Shannon Airport. A selection of passengers, believed to have been from America has recently arrived. They arrived late at night and cold, and it was Sheridan's idea to warm them up. His idea was to add a kick of whiskey to their coffee. It took a few years for the coffee to be popularised in America. There are two claimants for bringing the coffee to America, Stanton Delaplane and Tom Bergin.
