| As the name suggests, the Nike Free aims to provide the sensation of running without shoes - so light are it's materials, it will appear as if you are running barefoot. Well, so the press statement from Nike proclaims. The design of the shoe is certainly reminiscent of the first shoes made by Bill Bowerman - one of the founders of Nike - or, Blue Ribbon Sports, as it was previously named. While the Nike Free shoe contains exceptionally light weight materials, Nike still contend that it provides the support and cushioning required by track and street runners.
