Remington

Remington may not be the market leading manufacturer of electric shavers, but, they have carved out a substantial market share. Their ladies electric shavers are particularly popular, with Remington focusing alot of their efforts on this niche sector.

The Remington company was first and foremost a maker of guns. This is still a large part of their business. During the 1880's the company branched out into building typewriters. Eventually the typewriting branch of the company was sold.

The typewriting branch of Remington renamed itself 'Remington Rand' in the 1920's. It was this company, and not the original Remington and Sons company which started to build electric shavers and grooming products.

Remington Rand first began to make electric shavers in nineteen thirty seven. Since that date, up until today, Remington Rand has merged and been taken over numerous times. But, the company has continued to trade and sell shavers under the 'Remington' name.

Today, it would appear that the Remington brand is owned and marketed by Rayovac. Rayovac are an American company who make alkaline batteries. Currently, the company sells it's some of it's batteries under the 'Enercell' brand name.

Remington build and focus equally upon foil and rotary electric shavers. Which is at odds to the competition. When compared to Braun, who focus upon foil shavers, and Philips, who focus upon rotary shavers.

Remington's most popular range of foil shavers is currently called 'DualFoil'. Which, as the name would suggest, features two foil cutting heads. Remington have also released a model which features three foil cutting heads, and contains titanium coating.

Remington's most popular range of rotary shavers is currently called 'Dualtrack'. Which may be a little misleading, as the shaver contains three rotary cutting heads. Their top of line rotary shaver features carbon coated cutting blades.

Whether foil or rotary, Remington never fails to promote it's 'Flex and Pivot' technology. Remington claims that this technology provides multi-directional cutting ability, to adjust to any face. Flex and Pivot has been implemented into most of Remington's shavers.
