Spares and Parts

When it comes to repairing an electric shaver, or replacing worn out parts, many people will wonder what exactly are the parts which can be replaced and which cannot.

Repairing

Obviously most modern electric shavers are quite complex devices, and there is a limit to what can be repaired by yourself. On the whole, a new replacement shaver is cheaper than repairing any serious internal electrical malfunctions. Malfunctions will generally need the time of engineers, usually from the manufacturer.

If you do love your current shaver, then it's always a good idea to contact the manufacturer or place of purchase to see if it can be repaired. But, unless it's still under warranty, most people will probably be best advised to buy a new shaver and save the hassle and time of repairing.

There is, however, certain parts of an electric shaver which are expected to wear out at regularly intervals of a shavers lifespan. The manufacturer does provide easily obtainable spares, which can be installed by the consumer. The following section will cover what parts these are.

Parts

The shaver head is the primary part which can be replaced by a consumer. The foil or rotary head will become dull after regular use, therefore, the maker expects the head to give out every six months or so.

The plug and cord is the next most popular part which is replaced as a spare. Alongside the case of the shaver, head guard, lubricating spray and cleaning brush, these parts represent external elements of the shaver.

Apart from the shaver head, there is little in the way of internal parts or plugin parts which can be replaced. Gas cartridges are one of the few internal replacement parts, they are used by cordless shavers to provide up to five hours charge time while traveling.

So...

In conclusion, there is little in the way of major spares and replacements. Apart from a few plugin parts, the average consumer cannot expect to repair any internal malfunctions within their shaver.
