| Alongside interconnects and the mains plug/cable, the speaker cable is
another important consideration when looking to get the most out of your
expensive hifi equipment. Sold in metre's, speaker cabling tends to vary
in price from £0.99 for the cheapest, to £9.99 for the higher
end. The metal used for the inner cable is usually copper, or, copper
with silver plating, silver plating being the expensive option. A good
quality speaker cable should provide increased bass, detail and transparency,
while it's protective plastic casing should lower distortion from outside
influences. The end of a speaker cable should be clipped every year to
replace the exposed oxidised metal with fresh shiny metal, it should help
to improve performance. |
