Two Box CD Player

A DAC box, or digital to analogue convertor, this can help a low quality CD player perform better, and generally enhance sound performance and balance. CD player without the DAC component, only the parts to read and spin a compact disc

The most common approach to buying a CD player is to buy an integrated box, which is a CD player with all the necessary components included inside the one box/case. The other option - which is more technical and suited to audiophiles - is to separate the components of a CD player into two boxes. The two box CD player will be organised as such,

 - Box 1 - DAC Box, includes the digital to analogue convertor, featuring the optical, coaxial digital inputs and USB connection.

 - Box 2 - Playback Box, includes the components to read, spin, and control the compact disc inserted.

It is generally assumed that the two box approach provides improved balance and control over audio performance. Some audio experts also claim that a DAC can help increase the performance of a low quality CD player.
