| Vax were founded by Alan Brazier in the decade of the nineteen seventies. By the end of that decade, Vax had built it's first vacuum cleaners in Droitwich, England. What set Vax apart from the competition was it's wet/dry vacuum cleaner. Their machine was the first domestic cleaner which could wash carpets. Their vacuum would drip a small amount of cleaning fluid onto a carpet, and then be capable of vacuuming it up and drying the carpet. Although Vax are still based in Droitwich, the company is now owned by ITT, the same Hong Kong based business which purchased Hoover. Today, Vax tend to focus upon dry cleaners.
