Blades and Discs

As any of you who are accustomed with a food processor know, the blades and discs are essential part of the appliance. Discs are usually inserted on top of the central shaft, and are located near the top of the bowl, whereas blades usually sit on top and over the shaft, with the blade residing at the bottom of the bowl.

The blades and discs are usually made from stainless steal, but can be made from materials other than metal. Most processors come with a selection of discs, but there are also separate packs of discs for sale. The design of the discs and blades vary widely. The most well known blade design, is the 'S' shape design. Also referred to as the 'Sabatier' blade, shown below,

Such a blade is excellent for slicing and mixing herbs and other fine ingredients for sauces and dips.
