| The Energy Savings Trust have announced partnerships with a selection of major retail chains. They hope partnerships with retail giants like Sainsbury's and Comet will persuade customers to make the most of their energy, and buy energy saving kitchen appliances. The nuts and bolts of their energy campaign is to prevent changes to the Earth's climate. A recent aim of the Trust is to commit everyone in the UK into lowering their everyday energy usage by 20%. If they achieve this goal, the Trust hope they can help prevent devestating climate change. Alongside purchasing energy saving kitchen appliances, a key part of the Trust's energy saving measures is loft insulation. Insulating your loft can significantly lower your heating bills. You can also insulate windows, water pipes, and wall cavities. Each one of these measures, the Trust believes, could save in the region of one hundred pounds per annum. Admittedly insulation is not cheap, but the government does offer incentives for people to do it. They are called government grants, and if your eligible you can receive up to twenty seven hundred pounds to improve your home's energy saving capabilities. Search the Energy Savings Trust's website for 'Warmfront grant' if your interested. However, if you have already insulated your home, then the Trust provides some steps you can take today. These will also lower your energy consumption. Some examples are, try not to leave any appliances on their standby status, they can still use a considerable amount of energy on standby. If you drink alot of hot drinks, only fill the kettle with as much water as is required. If you wish to pledge your commitment to saving 20%, visit www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/commit. As of the 15th November, 2008, the Trust have received commitments from a total of 216,997 people. If your buying a new kitchen appliance, then look for the above logo, it's plastered prominently on any appliance which meets the Trust's requirements.
