Full refund on faulty electronics - how long do I have?

Posted 08/11/11

You should have four weeks. After four weeks its assumed you have fully accepted the item; however, if you believe the goods were faulty on the date of purchase, you may have up to six months to claim a full refund. The ability to claim a refund may depend on the item itself. If you are returning an item worth a couple of quid, then the retailers may claim that the item has lasted a 'reasonable' amount of time, even if it has broke in a short space of time. On the other hand, if you are returning a £1000 hifi system after seven months, you can certainly claim the item has not lasted a reasonable amount of time, and may have claim for a full refund.
