| Posted - 2010 Samsung have just released pictures of their new fridge freezer. The model number is an uninteresting RF-G299, but excitement surrounds a seven inch LCD display panel, which is incorporated into the front door. Unlike some previous models which placed the LCD on a vent hud, this is one of the first models from Samsung to place it on the french door of the appliance. The idea of placing a display on the french door is not an original idea however. But, for Samsung it's a new feature to have a LCD screen placed a few inches above the water and ice dispenser. The display offers quite an involving software application, with many features to control the behaviour of the fridge and freezer. Some thing you will have control over is a schedule and calendar of settings, for obvious things like the temperature, ice and water status. The screen will also provide information about nutrition and the conversion of units within the fridge. You can also upload pictures of postcards, and artwork to the LCD screen. So, if you do not wish to have your kid's school artwork cluttering up your fridge freezer's front, you can have the LCD tidily display a host of photo's and notes on a rotation. The fridge itself offers a massive twenty eight cubic feet of storage space, making it one of the largest fridge freezers available on the domestic market. It also includes a new type of insulating material which has allowed Samsung to lower the size of the casing walls. Like all good fridge freezers, compartments are heated separately to prevent odors moving from place to place. The LCD of course offer control over all these separately heated areas. Sadly all this does not come cheap, priced around three thousand dollars in the US, it will most likely cost in the region of two thousands pounds in the UK. The finish of the casing, as the above images shows, is in stainless steel.
